The purposes of Mensa

Mensa has three purposes, which are outlined in its constitution. They are:

  1. To identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity.

  2. To encourage research into the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence.

  3. To provide a stimulating intellectual and social environment for its members.

American Mensa has a great many special interest groups (SIGs) which hold special events at the annual national meetings.

Special Interest Groups include rock climbers, bird watchers, an amateur radio group (HamSIG), muscle building/weight trainers, a SCUBA diving group, a travel group, a yoga group, a motorcycle group, and many more including the very special the Hell’s Mensans party group. We Mensans can be nerds at times, but we are inevitably interesting nerds. Especially when we band together! Come join us.
